A trucker is in jail in Maury County, TN, charged with attempted murder after an apparent road rage incident involving another trucker.

A Nashville television station, WTVF-TV, reported that Darrin Rivers is being held without bond. Police said Rivers was southbound on Interstate 65, south of Nashville, when another truck tried to merge into traffic from a ramp.

Rivers allegedly pulled directly in front of the merging truck, almost hitting its cab with his trailer.

The other trucker then reportedly tried to pass, and when they were side by side, Rivers allegedly fired five rounds from a 9 mm pistol.

The other trucker – who swerved into the median – wasn’t hurt.

Information from witnesses led to Rivers’ arrest five hours later in Alabama.
