New truck stop on I-90 coming to Ohio

| Thursday, September 07, 2006

Truckers traveling on Interstate 90 near Conneaut, OH, could have a new truck stop to stop at some time next year.

According to the Conneaut Star Beacon, the city is working on approving a chunk of land at the junction of I-90, State Route 7 and Underridge Road to build a truck stop. The development still requires final city approval, as well as permission from the Ohio Department of Transportation to build a frontage road to service the truck plaza.

If all goes as planned, construction could begin on the project by year’s end, the Star Beacon reported.

Although the stop is expected to have truck and four-wheeler fueling stations and a restaurant, further details on parking spots and other amenities have not yet been decided, the Star Beacon reported.

Ohio ranks 38th overall in commercial vehicle parking adequacy, according to a 2002 study by the Federal Highway Administration.
