SAN ANGELO, TX – Goodyear announced today that the company
is launching a fuel efficient truck tire line, starting with the Unisteel G395
LHS steer tire. It will be followed next month by the G305 LHD drive tire and
the G316 trail tire. Goodyear uses its new Fuel Max Technology to manufacture
the truck tires, featuring new compounding and new structure.
In SAE/TMC fuel economy testing, the tires demonstrated 8
percent fuel economy improvement over a comparable truck with current
technology tires. Goodyear expects that to translate to 4 percent or more
improved mileage in real-world operation.
Goodyear claims that nearly 62 percent of the fuel economy
is due to the rubber compound of the tread.
The tire company also is offering UniCircle and precure
retreading with Fuel Max Technology. The retreading will be available by the
end of the year.
