The Detroit City Council has voted to throw out a controversial contract that the city's deputy mayor signed with Ambassador Bridge owner Matty Moroun.

According to media reports, the contract would have given riverfront development rights to Moroun's company.

The deputy mayor, Anthony Adams, was told that he'll be fired if he enters into any more contracts without the council's approval.
