A trucker who went missing last weekend was found dead of an apparent
heart attack in the cab of his truck, authorities reported in Burlington, WI.
Jeffrey D. Heffelfinger, 36, of Hoopsten, IL, a driver for an undisclosed
Illinois company, was pronounced dead at the scene in the sleeper of the cab,
parked in the vicinity of Echo Lake Produce in Burlington.
He had reportedly died some time after dropping off a load at that
location on Friday, July 28.
Police responded to the location and found the trucker on Monday, July
31, according to Detective Sgt. Bret Maus of the Burlington Police Department.
The Racine County medical examiner told a Burlington Standard Press reporter the cause of death was
acute cardiac arrest and not the heat, although the temperature was in excess
of 90 degrees that day.
Heffelfinger reportedly had a history of heart problems.
