A Texas trucker who was held hostage for four hours by a
gunman said she relied on God to stay calm as she drove around the Dallas-Fort
Worth area with the man sitting beside her.
In an interview with local television station KTVT-TV,Christie Bundren said she spent most of her time trying to get the suspect,
Samuel Jones, to surrender, but that he was on the phone much of the time
arguing with his girlfriend.
After police shot out the tires on her rig Sunday, July 23, Bundren
said Jones cocked his pistol and said, “I’ve got to end this now.”
She said that’s when she grabbed the gun and jumped out of
the cab with her dog.
