$1 billion intermodal hub to be built near KC

| Wednesday, July 19, 2006

An intermodal hub that’s expected to eventually generate 10,000 truck trips per day is going in near Kansas City.

Burlington Northern-Santa Fe is building the 1,000-acre facility along I-35 and hopes to have the first phase of the project complete in a little over a year.

BNSF will haul cargo containers and trailers from seaports by rail, then transfer the cargo to trucks for distribution.
