Normally, truck racer Mike Ryan might be disappointed by the fact that
his world record for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb was broken over
the weekend – if he wasn’t the one who broke it, that is.
Although official numbers have not yet been released, Ryan told Land Line that during the holiday weekend,
he and his custom-built Freightliner finished the race in an unofficial 12
minutes and 43 seconds, three seconds faster than his previous record.
Ryan’s tractor is powered by a 1,250-horsepower Mercedes-Benz engine,
and can reach speeds of more than 100 miles an hour.
