Busy border-access road under construction in Windsor

A construction project will limit traffic in the Canadian border city of Windsor, Ontario, until Aug. 11.

Huron Church Road, which carries traffic to and from the border crossing on the Canadian side, is under construction to lengthen the northbound left-turn lane at Industrial Drive to reduce congestion and truck queuing.

The $357,000 project requires temporary closure of the northbound passing lane, the northbound turn lane and the southbound passing lane.

The city has posted signs informing drivers of the reduced lanes and expected delays.

Windsor is Canada’s busiest border crossing, connected to Detroit by the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.
