Looking for a way to celebrate Independence Day, trucker-style? Florence, SC, might be the place for you.

K&L Chrome Shop is sponsoring the “Rockin' in the 4th Big Rig Truck Show,” scheduled for July 3 in conjunction with the city's Spirit of Florence festival.

Mike Love, a spokesman for K&L, told “Land Line Now” on XM radio that this truck show is fundamentally different from other truck shows.

“This truck show differs from most other ones because it's using the working man's truck,” Love said. “It's your Average Joe driver that takes pride in his vehicle and dresses it up for an event, and still hauls up and down the road every day with it.”

Love said the entry fee for the truck show is $50 for most trucks and $25 for specialty entries, such as sleepers or cabs. There is also a $250 site fee, bringing an entry to approximately $275-$300. The show is open to first 125 entries.

Activities for the Spirit of Florence Festival are set for two weekends, July 3 and 4 and July 7 through 9. The first weekend will open with the truck show, concerts and additional activities at the Florence Civic Center on July 3.

The festival will move to Timrod Park on July 4 with games, vendors and music, and will finish at Legion Field with a Coastal Plains Summer Collegiate Baseball Game, concert, skydivers and fireworks show.

Proceeds from the festival and the truck show will benefit local charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Each entry will receive two tickets to the Florence Red Wolves baseball game July 4.
