Mineta doesn't see truck weights/lengths increasing

Despite appeals from the American Trucking Association, U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta says he doesn’t expect the weight or length limits for heavy trucks to be increased any time soon.

The ATA publication, Transport Topics, reports that Mineta doesn’t believe Congress is in any mood to allow bigger, heavier trucks on the nation’s highways.

However, Mineta has said he thinks Congress would allow triples and trucks over 80,000 pounds in truck-only toll lanes.
