A new report from the ATA says the trucking industry will
spend $6.6 billion more on fuel in 2005 than it did in 2006.
The ATA’s report said the industry will spend $94.3 billion
on fuel this year, based on current fuel price forecasts, according to a press
release. That’s up from the $87.7 billion that was spent in 2005.
In addition, ATA said the forecast could change because
diesel prices could go even higher this year with the switch to ultra
low-sulfur diesel, which is scheduled to begin June 1 at the refinery level.
