So, you’re stuck in traffic and you want to know how long
it’s going to take to navigate the city loop. One way to satisfy that curiosity
and to perhaps find a detour is to watch for a sign of the times.
Tarrant County in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is stepping up
an effort to post travel times on more electronic highway signs. The idea is
expanding in the Lone Star State and in other areas.
Officials moved recently to nearly double the number of
existing signs – 59 – which are in place for construction updates, Amber Alerts
and warnings. Now they can also tell you the “travel time around the loop is 10
Houston and San Antonio have boasted success with posting
travel-times, according to the Star-Telegram in Fort Worth.
Dallas is currently testing five signs.
