Attention, procrastinators: like it or not, the deadline for
filing your taxes is here.
For most of the country, Monday, April 17 is the last day
for filing state and federal taxes. However, residents of Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont and Washington, D.C. have until
11:59 p.m. Tuesday, April 18.
If you can’t finish filling out your forms in time, you may
still have time to file for an extension. By filling out Internal Revenue
Service Form 4868 – which can be submitted electronically – before the
deadline, you can be granted an additional six months of prep time.
The IRS also offers several options for submitting your tax
information, including a “free file” filing system on its Web site. Visit www.irs.gov for more information.
