Major traffic changes are currently underway for the ongoing Woodrow Wilson Bridge project in Alexandria, VA.
Beginning on or about
April 11, two-way traffic on South Washington Street, along with pedestrian
access, will shift to the west side of the Beltway overpass to allow
construction of the fourth and final portion of the new overpass – the
northeastern quadrant.
According to a press
release, the existing three-lane configuration will remain until the overpass
is completed this fall, when the entire northern portion of the overpass is expected
to be complete.
At that point, workers
will be finishing final details on the new overpass such as plantings,
landscaping and lighting. Overall completion of the new overpass is slated for
the end of the 2006 calendar year.
