The Connecticut State Police are asking for help from the trucking community to locate a man suspected of rape near Ashford, CT, earlier this week.

On Monday, Feb. 6, police responded to a call from a 30-year-old female, according to a news release. The woman claimed to have been abducted on Route 84 on the eastbound ramp at Exit 72 after she stopped to help a man who had popped the hood on his truck and flagged her down.

According to the report, the alleged assailant took the woman to the sleeper of his truck, raped her, and tied her to a tree in a wooded area nearby.

Unfortunately, information on the trucker and his vehicle is sketchy. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a white truck and trailer with a sleeper. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 45 to 50 years old.

Anyone with information regarding the case should contact Troop C of the state police at (860) 896-3200, or call the Connecticut State Police Tips Hotline at (860) 896-3237. All calls will be confidential.
