An 85-year-old man endured frigid temperatures last week when police impounded his car while he was still in it.

Edmonton, Alberta, police told media sources that frost on the windshield and side windows prevented police from seeing the man in the front seat of the illegally-parked car Tuesday, Nov. 29. Police called a tow driver, who was also oblivious to the man in the car when he towed it to an impound lot.

The man endured a temperature of 14 degrees for several hours, according to the media report. He was reportedly disoriented but otherwise OK and later went to hospital for observation.

Edmonton Police Service spokeswoman Lisa Lammi told area media that an impound lot security officer found the man after seeing movement in the car.
