Thieves stopped short with wrong fuel

Police had little trouble catching up with a pair of thieves who made off with a tank full of fuel Sunday in Nappanee, IN.

According to The Associated Press, the thieves were attempting to fill the tank of their car with gasoline stolen from a construction site on Aug. 14. Instead, they inadvertently filled up with off-road-grade diesel.

When the car wouldn’t run, the pair began siphoning the fuel back out of the gas tank. That’s when the construction company employee spotted then who then called the police.

McKinley Chase, 21, and Dajuan Lord, 19, of Gary, IN, were charged with felony theft and taken to an Elkhart County jail.
