Three men have been arrested and charged in relation with a trailer theft ring in Chicago.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Eugene Brock, along with two of his nephews, used his own trucks to haul two trailers filled with Ethan Allen furniture to an abandoned warehouse, where it was unloaded.
Police caught the trio by posing as buyers in the warehouse. Brock – a convicted felon – and his nephews were charged with unlawful possession of a motor vehicle and theft of more than $100,000.
Chicago has seen a surge in trailer theft in recent years, the Tribune reported. In Illinois, 1,080 trailers were stolen in 2004, compared to 411 in 1996.
