FMCSA looking at parking availability notice system

| Friday, June 17, 2005

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is moving forward with its SmartPark program, which plans to use commercial technology to alert drivers on the road to parking availability within a 50-mile radius.

The agency is seeking vendors to develop proposals for the SmartPark program, for which it says it has $2 million available. The projects will be announced in the fall.

All proposals are due in to the FMSCA by Sept. 16.
