Six moving companies targeted in federal investigation

The feds have set up a special Web page to collect complaints from possible victims of improper overcharging by six different moving companies.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General, the FBI and the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division are investigating six moving companies for allegedly improperly demanding extra payment for household goods.

The Web page has been set up on the DOT’s Office of Inspector General’s Web site and asks for statements from people who suspect they were victimized by any of the companies.

The companies being investigated include AY Transport Relocation Services, Progressive Van Lines Moving & Storage, Midwest Relocation Services, Premier Moving, National Moving Network and Patriot Moving.
