John Cogliano has been named the new Secretary of Transportation in Massachusetts, Gov. Mitt Romney’s office announced this week.

Cogliano, who had served as a Massachusetts Highway Department commissioner, replaces Dan Grabauskas, who resigned last month. He will oversee implementation of Romney’s new multiyear statewide transportation plan, which involves spending $31 billion over two decades in the state’s roads, bridges and transit network.
