Medical clinic opens at Colorado truck stop

Truckers who are sick or injured have a tough task when it comes to finding an accessible medical facility in an unfamiliar town. To meet that need, Health Express Clinic has opened an office at Travel Centers of America in Wheat Ridge, CO, at Interstate 70 and Ward Road.

Nationally certified and licensed health care providers are onsite seven days a week under direction of a board certified internist. The clinic hours are Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call the clinic at (303) 274-5733.

The clinic is equipped to deal with most minor to intermediate conditions and provide follow-up visits for uncomplicated chronic conditions. The owners have partnered with H&L Drug Compliance Inc. to perform DOT physicals.

Many common prescription medications are on hand, and other prescriptions can be filled at a pharmacy about a half mile away from the truck stop.

According to Ronald Waits, the clinic founder and a board certified nurse practitioner, the clinic’s location was chosen to be convenient for drivers who can ’t afford to go too far out of their way for medical services.
