Another 2,500 truckers will have access to XM Satellite Radio according to an announcement from Contract Freighters Inc., which will factory-equip all of its new trucks with XM receivers.

Contract Freighters Inc., known as CFI, is a North American truckload carrier and is making XM available to all of its 2,500 drivers, whether they drive a new truck with an XM receiver or they own a plug-and-play XM radio for an earlier-model vehicle.

XM offers more than 150 digital radio channels, including the 24-hour truckers’ channel Open Road, featuring legendary trucker DJs Bill Mack, the “Truckin’ Bozo” Dale Sommers, Dave Nemo, and Steve Sommers. XM also provides commercial-free music, 24-hour traffic and weather channels for 21 major metropolitan areas, professional and college sports, talk radio, and many other choices.

Bruce Stockton, CFI’s vice president of maintenance stated in a press release that, “XM’s ability to provide our drivers with current traffic and weather updates elevates our safety program to yet another level while transporting our customers’ products across North America. The entertainment value is unmatched by any system available, and we believe it will be a positive factor in recruiting and retaining personnel.”
