XM to raise subscription rate 30 percent

| Thursday, March 03, 2005

Starting April 2, XM Satellite Radio subscribers will pay 30 percent more per month for the service – but they will also get more for their money.

XM recently announced the increase in a press release. April 2, the monthly subscription price for the basic service package will be $12.95. The basic package will also be expanded beginning April 2 to include the Internet service XM Radio Online.

Current XM subscribers are being given the opportunity to lock in the current $9.99 subscription rate – or maybe even a discount on that rate – if they prepay for their service. That offer is only available until April 2.

The subscription price increase does not impact XM’s Family Plan.
