Kenworth to recall some 2004 models

| Tuesday, December 14, 2004

Kenworth will begin a recall in January of seven different models built in 2004 because of a wiring issue.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall information Dec. 9, and in its notice stated that the actual recall effort would begin in January 2005.

On certain trucks, the power feed harness P92-1993 terminals were not properly crimped, according to the recall notice. This could lead to intermittent power loss affecting the electrical system and possibly result in a fire.

Models subject to the recall include the C500, K100, T2000, T300, T600, T800 and W900. The number of trucks included in this recall was not available, according to the recall notice.

The recall notice directs Kenworth owners of these 2004 models to call Kenworth at (425) 828-5418 and mention recall No. 04KW8. Owners may also contact the NHTSA’s auto safety hotline at 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
