New Speedco showcases new oil management technology

Speedco Inc., a quick lube service for the commercial trucking industry, had the grand opening of its first West Coast location in Corning, Calif., Wednesday, Dec. 8. The new facility will be the first with Speedco’s newest environmentally friendly technology in oil management.

The Corning location will feature two new environmentally friendly oil management processes, including the first automatic oil change system designed for the commercial trucking industry.

Envirolube removes excess oil from oil changing pits, which are coated in reflective fiberglass resin that makes the pits lighter and cleaner for technicians. At the end of each day, the resin-coated pits are power washed, forcing excess oil to run with the water through a series of tubes to an above ground station, where it is separated. After separation, the oil is piped into a waste oil tank, leaving the water clean enough to drain into a sanitary sewer. Envirolube makes its debut at the Corning Speedco.

ESOC (environmentally safe oil change) is the first automatic oil change system designed for the commercial trucking industry. The system features a closed loop oil exchange system that purges all used oil from a truck and in turn keeps the work area cleaner. ESOC and Envirolube provide benefits for both the environment and Speedco technicians.

The Corning Speedco, offering both lube and tire service bays, will serve as a model for new Speedco locations, as well as existing stores as tire service bays are added to 32 lube service locations during the next couple of years, according to a Speedco press release. Speedco’s stores in Amarillo, TX; El Paso, TX; and Atlanta have tire lanes now in operation.

Tire services include inspections, air ups, repairs and replacements, offered in bundled service packages for tractors, trailers or both. Speedco features new tires from Goodyear, Michelin and Yokohama, and Bandag’s line of retread tires for over-the-road/long haul applications.

The new store, located at 3595 Highway 99 West, is Speedco’s 33rd store in the U.S.
