More than $10,000 in prizes to be awarded at Expedite Expo 2004

There’re plenty of reasons to be in Michigan in August for the Expedite Expo 2004, including two top-dollar prizes.

The event – scheduled for Aug. 11 and 12 at the Detroiter Travel Center in Woodhaven, MI – is billed as the only expediting-specific trucking show in North America. Expedite Expo has partnered with the National Association of Show Trucks to manage its trucking event, the Expediter Pride Truck Image Contest, a competition for working expediting trucks.

This year, the Best of Show prize – from the straight truck and tractor classes – will be a new RMP-104 truck generator from RigMaster Power Generator of Toronto, completely installed. Lawrence McCord, Expedite Expo Show Manager, said it was one of the highest dollar-value prizes in trucking show history, with a value of more than $7,200.

Another top-of-the-line prize is on tap for the top Cargo Van in the Expediter Pride Truck Image Contest. The winner will receive a Webasto diesel-fired truck heater unit, donated by Espar of Michigan. McCord says this unit with installation is valued at more than $1,100.

"We are thrilled beyond words by the generosity of both RigMaster Power Generator and Espar of Michigan," said McCord. "This demonstrates the commitment of both of these fine companies to the hard-working owner-operators of expediting who are facing ever-increasing anti-idling legislation across the country."

In addition to the high-dollar prizes, McCord said the show should be the best yet because of this year’s sponsors and assistance from NAST.

“We are excited to have a world-class organization like NAST to conduct our truck beauty show. They bring their years of experience to this event and the organization has an unparalled reputation of professionalism and fairness. This will be the best Expediter Pride event ever," McCord said.

The Expedite Expo 2004 is sponsored by OOIDA, Land Line Magazine, RigMaster Power Generator, Freightliner of Knoxville, FedEx Custom Critical, Big Rig Owner Magazine, Espar Of Michigan, Tri-State Expedited Service, Panther II Transportation, Alumi-Bunk Corp., All-Types Expediting and Transport Insurance Agency.
