legislative session would prohibit big rigs from driving in the left lane on
HB2182, sponsored by Rep. Bob Patton, R-Johnson City, and SB2108, sponsored by
Sen. Rusty Crowe, R-Johnson City, truck tractors and semi-trailers would be
restricted to the right-most lanes of interstate or multilane divided highways,
except when passing or instructed by emergency personnel. Violators could be
subject to a $50 fine.

similar House and Senate proposals were under consideration last year in the
Legislature. The measures died in their respective transportation committees
when lawmakers adjourned for the year.
