Your very own highway - if the price is right

Want to buy your own highway – here's your chance.

The Associated Press reported Dec. 19 that a 22-mile, $90 million private toll road that links parts of Texas to Mexico has gone belly up and is on the auction block.

But your bidding competition may be fierce. The Texas Department of Transportation told the news service it might bid when the highway goes on the auction block Jan. 6.

The highway, called the Camino Colombia, links the Colombia Solidarity Bridge, which crosses the border, with Interstate 35 north of Laredo. It was constructed just three years ago.
