Developer hits the brakes on truck stop plan

A plan for a large truck stop in Shreveport, LA, is off the table after the developer withdrew his plans, The Shreveport Times reported.

Bob Horn, the developer, planned a $4 million, Old West-themed stop that would have targeted trucks that serve a nearby port. Plans for alcohol sales and gambling at the stop did not sit well with some local officials. Nearby residents also pointed to the potential impact on home values.

There is no word on whether Horn will submit altered plans; however, he did tell the newspaper earlier that without video poker and alcohol sales, he had no plans to move ahead.
