Truck-Lite's Van Riper earns TMC's highest honor

At the Industry Awards Luncheon of the Technology and Maintenance Council, Bradley Van Riper, vice president of research and development for Truck-Lite Co., was presented the TMC’s highest award, the Silver Spark Plug.

Van Riper became the 142nd recipient of this prestigious award since TMC was founded 47 years ago. He is the first from Truck-Lite.

The Silver Spark Plug is a lifetime achievement award “given in recognition of an individual’s outstanding contributions to the cause of improving heavy-duty vehicle maintenance,” according to the official description of the award.

Van Riper earned his Silver Spark Plug for his contributions to may Recommended Practices dealing with wiring, electrical and electronic devices and with the driver environment. During his 14 years as a TMC member, he has appeared many times as a panelist and expert presenter at TMC Technical Sessions.

Typical of Van Riper’s efforts, he is a speaker at two sessions during the recent fall meeting, “Maximizing Starter, Battery and Alternator Life” and “How to Prevent Dock Seal Fires.”

Van Riper has been with Truck-Lite for 25 years. He and his wife, Becky, live in Gerry, NY. They have two sons – Christopher, a junior at the University of Buffalo, and Aaron, a senior at Falconer (NY) Senior High School.

Headquartered in Falconer, NY, Truck-Lite is a leading producer of signal lighting, forward lighting, wiring harnesses, mirrors, turn-signal switches and safety accessories for the heavy-duty truck, trailer and commercial vehicle industries.
