Average diesel price rises 3.8 cents to $1.483

The average U.S. retail price of diesel fuel rose 3.8 cents per gallon to $1.483, the Department of Energy reported Tuesday, marking the second straight increase.

The Midwest reported the highest price spike, 5.1 cents, to $1.486.

The highest prices are in California, at $1.626 a gallon.

Other average prices: the Central Atlantic region, where the price is $1.577; in the Rocky Mountain region, where the price is $1.506; in New England, where the price is $1.575; and on the West Coast, where the average price is $1.569.

The lowest average prices are on the Gulf Coast, at $1.486; in the Lower Atlantic region, at $1.422; and the East Coast, where the price is $1.475.
