Work starts to widen Indiana Toll Road

| Tuesday, October 14, 2003

A project to widen a three-mile portion of the Indiana Toll Road has begun, The Gary Post-Tribune reported recently.

The toll road runs from Illinois to Ohio through the northern part of Indiana, carrying portions of Interstates 90 and 80. The portion to be widened is in the city of Gary, which borders Lake Michigan near the Illinois border.

Two bridges on 15th Avenue, which crosses the toll road twice on the east side of Gary, will be replaced yet this year. However, the newspaper reported that the bulk of the work will occur this coming spring.
