Separate incidents: Two women in tractor-trailers shot near Dallas

| Tuesday, September 23, 2003

Two women have been shot while inside moving 18-wheelers in the Dallas area, The Dallas Morning News reported recently.

Police officials told the newspaper they have made no connection between the two incidents.

The first shooting occurred Sept. 14, when a pickup merging onto I-35 in Oak Cliff, TX, sped in front of a big rig driven by Eva Paul of Lebanon, MO. Six shots were fired at the tractor-trailer, two hitting Eva Paul as her husband, Oris Paul, rested in the sleeper. He was not hurt.

The second shooting occurred early Sept. 20 along I-35 in Waxahachie, TX, about 27 miles south of the first shooting in the Dallas area. A married couple – whose identities were not released by the authorities – were traveling on the highway with the husband behind the wheel, The Morning News said.

About 1:30 a.m., the husband heard popping sounds. He thought a tire had blown out, the newspaper said, but when he called for his wife, she said she had been shot in the head.

Information was not available on the condition of the woman injured Sept. 20; however, Eva Paul, the newspaper reported, is paralyzed from the waist down.

Anyone with information on the shootings should call (214) 671-3634 and ask for Detective Joe Garza.
