Security boosted at Golden Gate for anniversary

Security was boosted at the Golden Gate bridge for the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, The Associated Press reported.

The bridge is the only site to receive increased security in the Bay Area, primarily because of its prominence and its status as a national landmark.

In addition, Coast Guard officials told the news service that agency had no additional plans for the anniversary since the Department of Homeland Security did not raise the terrorism alert level.
