Lanes closed on NJ Turnpike to allow Express E-ZPass work

The New Jersey Turnpike has closed three toll lanes in each direction at Exit 18W for the rest of this year, according to a release from the New Jersey Motor Truck Association.

Exit 18W is in the far northeast portion of the state, near New York City.

The closures will allow the turnpike to install Express E-ZPass lanes at the exit.

During construction, which started Sept. 10, two lanes in each direction will remain open for E-ZPass users; the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph in the construction area. However, because the project will cause significant congestion, drivers are urged to consider alternate routes.
