2002, according to a report from Stateline.org.
U.S. Department of Transportation figures, Stateline.org reported
that more than half of the 1,324 spills were caused by two companies
– FedEX and UPS – although FedEX officials say much of that is due
to the firm’s strict reporting rules. The Illinois spills also accounted
for 9 percent of national reported hazmat spills.
