Another 'worm' attacks Kentucky computers

A number of motor vehicle offices in Kentucky were unable to process registrations as a new Internet worm attacked computers at several state offices, The Louisville Courier-Journal reported Aug. 19.

The Governor's Office of Technology told the newspaper that the virus did not enable its creators to access personal information held in state machines. The current attack was similar in nature to the Blaster virus that attacked computer a week before.

A state official suggested that citizens call ahead before coming in to renew registrations to make sure computers are working.
