Land Line clarifies Brake Guard story

| Thursday, August 14, 2003

An article on the Land Line Web site Aug. 11 reported on a consent decree settling a case between the Federal Trade Commission and businessman Larry Jones in which the FTC charged Jones violated a 1998 commission order regarding Brake Guard aftermarket braking devices. The 1998 order did not mention Larry Jones by name. However, the “Opinion of the Commission” issued at that time did refer to the respondents as including Ed Jones and his family. Larry Jones is Ed Jones’ son. Also, the FTC said Larry Jones was a major North American distributor of the product covered under the order, that he was an agent or representative or acting in concert with Brake Guard and that he was therefore covered under the order.
