Skipped your tolls? Now you can make payments

| Thursday, August 07, 2003

The Illinois Tollway is offering a new way for people who skip the tollbooth to pay the state what they owe.

According to the Tollway Web site, the new Violation Payment Plan would let those people make payments on their debt. However, to qualify, they must owe at least $500 for tolls skipped before July 31, 2003.

Most toll skippers would be able to spread paying their past-due tolls and related fines over six months; those who owe $2,500 or more can go up to 12 months.

To apply for the Illinois Tollway Violation Payment Plan, go to www.illinoistollway.com. Those without Internet access can call 630-241-6800 ext. 4409 to receive an application in the mail.

The Daily Herald reported that around 20,000 people are eligible to take part in the plan.
