See you later, alligator

When most truckers hear you ran over a gator, they’re thinking tire tread. But for one trucker in Alabama, it really was a gator.

The Mobile Register reported July 22 that a tractor-trailer struck and killed a 10-foot-long alligator July 21 near the east end of the Mobile Bay Causeway.

Law-enforcement officials told the newspaper several of the large reptiles are hit each year along the causeway, which carries U.S. Highways 90 and 98 and I-10 from the city of Mobile, AL, across the north end of the bay to Spanish Fort, AL. The driver of the truck was not identified.
