most truckers hear you ran over a gator, they’re thinking tire tread.
But for one trucker in Alabama, it really was a gator.
Mobile Register reported July 22 that a tractor-trailer struck
and killed a 10-foot-long alligator July 21 near the east end of
the Mobile Bay Causeway.
officials told the newspaper several of the large reptiles are hit
each year along the causeway, which carries U.S. Highways 90 and
98 and I-10 from the city of Mobile, AL, across the north end of
the bay to Spanish Fort, AL. The driver of the truck was not identified.
