Wisconsin bill boosts freeway speeds

| 6/2/2003

A bill in the Wisconsin Assembly would raise speed limits on the state's four-lane divided highways.

AB147, sponsored by Rep. Mark Pettis, R-La Follette, increases the speed limit from 65 mph to 70 mph on the state's freeways. The speed limit on expressways would remain at 65 mph.

Speeding fines would range from $50 to $300. The bill is in the Assembly Committee on Highway Safety.
