A bill to award higher benefits to some workers injured on the job has been signed into law by Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn.

AB438, sponsored by Assemblyman Chad Christensen, R-Las Vegas, provides for an annual increase in compensation paid to workers who suffer permanent total disabilities in on-the-job accidents.

The new law provides for an annual 2.3 percent increase in the award given to those workers who suffered permanent disabilities. The increase takes effect next January and continues each year.
