Music by truckers, for truckers

| 3/31/2003

Talented truckers and their family members were part of a nationwide, on-going search for undiscovered music talent within the transportation industry at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY.

Out of 18 entrants, a panel of judges chose five winners: Chrissy Kelley, driver for Werner Enterprises; Marshall Madison, former trucker dedicated full time to his music career; Bobby Huckaby, driver for Tonapah Joe's Truck Stop in Arizona; Jeff Lofollette, driver for Kennedy Trucking of Carrollton, KY; and Kris Pierce, a former dispatcher and son of a 30-year trucker from Eminence, KY.

Winners will have two songs each placed on a compilation of original songs and distributed nationwide. They also are invited to showcase their talents and sell their own personal projects along with the Gear Jammer Records compilation at the next two talent searches at Waupun, WI, Trucking Jamboree, Aug. 8-9, and the Great American Trucking Show, Sept. 26-28 in Dallas, TX.

Emcee for the talent search event was award-winning artist Kenny Robbins, who opened the show each day along with Kenneth 'Otis' Junkin of Mayberry USA and singer/actress Laura McCray. Paul Anthony and Paul Bedard of the Paul Anthony Band out of Florida performed some of their original tunes. Steve Tviet, AMG's recording specialist and co-founder, ran the sound to make certain everyone on stage sounded great.

The judges were Diana Davis of OverDrive Radio; Paul Bedard and Paul Anthony of the Paul Anthony Band; Don Bradford, well-known gospel songwriter; Laura McCray, former Miss Alabama Cinderella 1997; and Kenneth Junkin, Otis impersonator of famed Mayberry USA.

AmeriSearch Music Group Inc., parent company of Gear Jammer Records of Nashville, TN, and founders of the "Stars of the Road" Talent Search 2003 event packed their space at MATS with standing room only. As put by one of its founders, Frank Milstead, "it's music by truckers, for truckers."
