Speed limit increase gets OK from Iowa committee

| 3/13/2003

A legislative panel in Iowa has voted in favor of increasing the interstate speed limit to 70 mph.

HSB100 passed the House Transportation Committee by a 11-9 vote March 11, according to a spokesman at the Legislature. The bill, which has been retitled HF532, now moves on to the House floor for a vote.

The bill would move the speed limit on interstates to 70 mph, but leave it at 65 mph on non-interstate four-lane divided highways.
