Colorado may shift mass transit funds to highways

The Colorado Senate will vote Wednesday on a bill that would transfer funds from mass transit to highway construction.

SB74, sponsored by Senate President John Andrews, R-Centennial, recently passed the Senate Committee on Transportation. The final Senate vote on the bill has been delayed twice.

The bill would shift millions of dollars from the Regional Transportation District to highway construction, according to The Denver Business Journal. The money is paying, in part, for a massive light rail project in the Denver metropolitan area.
