Pilot to take over some Williams locations Feb. 27

| Thursday, February 13, 2003

Knoxville, TN-based Pilot Travel Centers LLC announced Feb. 10 that it would take over 44 truckstops formerly operated by Williams TravelCenters. The change is scheduled Feb. 27.

Williams’ centers stretch across 15 states, including locations from Arizona to Florida concentrated in the Ohio Valley and the southeastern United States.

Pilot announced Oct. 30 that it would purchase 60 retail travel centers from Williams, a subsidiary of Tulsa, OK, energy firm Williams Co.

James A. Haslam III, president and CEO of Pilot, told Land Line previously that his company planned to sell several of the locations involved in the deal, “either because they don’t fit into the Pilot network or because we have duplication.” However, he stressed that the company did not plan to close any locations.

The company’s release this week did not indicate what it planned to do with the Williams locations not covered in its most recent announcement.
