Diesel prices leap from $1.49 to $1.54

According to figures released by the Energy Department Feb. 3, the national average cost of diesel fuel per gallon this week rose to $1.542 from last week average price of $1.492.

For the first time in more than a year, the average price hit the dollar-fifty or dollar-sixty mark in all regions of the country.

The highest rates are in the Central Atlantic states were prices are $1.66; prices in New England average $1.643; and prices in California are $1.635.

The remaining regions' prices per gallon are as follows: $1.756 on the West Coast; $1.571 on the East Coast; $1.532 in the Midwest; $1.526 in the Lower Atlantic states; $1.510 on the Gulf Coast; and $1.50 in the Rocky Mountain Region.
