A Wyoming resident faces a half-million-dollar bond after being charged in the murder, kidnapping and robbery of an Alabama truckdriver.

According to a report in The Casper Star-Tribune, which quoted prosecutors, suspect Christopher Shandy, 22, agreed to give driver Wayne Shores of Alabama a ride from a local bar to the nearby Petro truckstop, which is just off I-80 on Curtis Road in Laramie. After the two got into Shandy’s vehicle, Shandy tried to rob the driver. Law-enforcement officials allege he shot Shores as the driver attempted to escape.

Shandy will have a preliminary hearing Jan. 28 in Albany County Circuit Court.
